Thirteen-year-old Jenna Davies, of Westfield, Merlins Bridge, won a much-coveted first prize at the Horse of the Year Show.

Riding her pony Butlers Alidan Tully, Jenna took first prize in the 13hands high working hunter pony class at the show at the NEC in Birmingham.

Jenna's mum Gill said: "Jenna was riding before she was walking and started her campaign for the much-treasured prize when she bought Tully two years ago.

"She trained long and hard with Amy James at Mallards Reach, Camrose, and Tully, bought with Amy's help, certainly proved himself."

Jenna qualified for the Horse of the Year show in Cornwall after many local and national successes, including a place in the Welsh international working hunter pony team.

Two other local riders also tasted success in the working hunter pony classes at the Horse of the Year Show.

Danielle Gardham, riding her pony Bellevue Royal Prince came third in the 15hh section and Bethan Lewendon put on a good display with her pony Trewithian Woodrough.
