Rally round the world

Pembrokeshire YFC is going global for the biggest event of the year - the county rally.

There will be a truly international flavour at the rally, which is a day packed with competitions and entertainment, as the themes this year are around the world' and the year of food and farming'.

County chairman Rhiannon Llewellin said: "The rally really is the highlight of the YFC year. Every one of our 600 members gets involved in the day somehow, whether it's through competing, helping with the weeks of preparation, or turning out to show their support.

"The unsung heroes of YFC - the leaders, trainers, parents and supporters - also put in a huge amount of time and effort before and during the day, and without them, the rally would not be half as successful as it is."

This year's competitions include a Eurovision song contest, performing a dance from any foreign country, around the world in eight minutes' and a rough guide to a country' presentations, as well as traditional favourites such as floral art, club exhibits, tug of war, generation game, cookery, scrapbook, stockjudging and craft.

One of the highlights of the day is the crowning of the county YFC queen, who this year is Ros Bushell, of Llysyfran YFC. The ceremony takes place at 11am.

Everyone is welcome at the rally, which is being held at the County Showground, Withybush on Saturday May 24th, from 10am.

The rally dance will be held at the Parkhouse building on the showground on Saturday night. Tickets available from clubs.
