New leisure club on farm opens its doors

Everything was leisurely down on a dairy farm in St Clears, as a new diversification project opened its doors.

The Llety Cynin Leisure Club opened its doors on Monday, May 5th, with facilities including a 40foot indoor swimming pool, with counter current, spa, sauna, state-of-the-art gymnasium and coffee lounge serving speciality coffees, cold drinks and snacks.

Grand Slam winning Wales and Ospreys scrum half and farmer's son Mike Phillips launched the leisure club at an open weekend on May 3rd and 4th.

The leisure club is the first phase of a two stage development with the second phase, which will include accommodation facilities for up to 24 guests plus a conference centre, opening later in the month.

Llety Cynin, which is situated at Penycoed Farm just outside St Clears, is a newly converted coach house and it is intended the new complex will be a major attraction for the local community, businesses and visitors to the area.

The project is the brainchild of Elizabeth and Dyfrig Davies. Penycoed Farm is a working dairy farm and it has long been their dream to build Llety Cynin and now that dream has become a reality.

"Dyfrig and I are very excited about Llety Cynin and are very happy at the way it has come together and to be able to announce the opening is a dream come true," said Elizabeth.

"So far we have been amazed at the amount of interest that the project has generated and we hope that the whole project will attract local people and businesses to use the conference facilities as well as bringing new visitors to our beautiful part of the world. We also hope that we can provide other benefits to the local community in the form of new jobs."

The diversification project has been part funded by a rural conversion grant through Carmarthenshire County Council.

Now at last, Elizabeth and Dyfrig have opened the doors and are planning an official opening event for early May for the whole Llety Cynin complex.

Elizabeth and Dyfrig are now actively marketing the conference facilities to businesses across the area and are hoping that visitors from all over the UK will be drawn to Llety Cynin to stay for a few days.

Dyfrig said: "We are very proud of our local area and we believe that the facilities at Llety Cynin will prove attractive to the local community, local business and to visitors from further afield and thus help promote and benefit Carmarthenshire in the long run."

A range of membership options are available now to individuals, families and corporate groups.
