Pak-ing in more milk
Selling milk in a bag has proved so successful for a Welsh organic co-operative that it is launching a TV advertising campaign to highlight the ground-breaking packs.
The move comes as Calon Wen's eco paks - fresh organic Welsh milk in a bag - were launched in Tesco's 43 stores in Wales.
Tesco marketing manager Enfys Fox said: "Tesco customers already love Calon Wen milk and I am sure they will welcome this new greener packaging."
The animated advert will be screened on S4C and ITV Wales and features cartoon cows and birds showing how easy eco paks are to use.
Eco paks are kinder to the environment, using 75% less packaging than conventional poly-bottles. Shoppers can also buy reusable, recyclable milk jugs that hold one litre eco paks.
"As organic farmers, we're so aware that simply producing organic milk isn't enough. While recycling plastic is important, first and foremost, we have to try to reduce the amount of plastic we use," said Iwan Jones, one of the dairy farmers behind Calon Wen.
