If proof was needed that horse riding is as popular as ever for both girls and boys, then the annual camp run by the South Pembrokeshire Hunt Branch of the Pony Club provided that.

Fifty children attended the week-long event at Cresselly Home Farm and enjoyed a range of riding activities including dressage, cross country, show jumping, stable management and mounted games.

The week ended with a fun competition for all the riders with the winners being awarded rosettes.

There was also a team competition during the week, won by the show jumpers'.

At the prizegiving, awards were also made to the most improved riders in each ride. The recipients were Ivan Levinski, Billy Kinear, Lucy Davies, Edward Hurle, Izzy Rees, Jodie Dickinson, Hannah Gray and Jess Hunt.

During the evenings the children enjoyed a trip to the beach, a barbecue and a fun evening at the Dinosaur Park, kindly provided by Mr and Mrs Simon Meyrick.

Five riders from the branch, Emily Pellington, Alice Simon, Cethin Ravenhill, Bea Bea Meyrick and Jack Goldsworthy Spuffard, were unable to attend camp as they were selected to represent Area 18 of Pony Club at the Stockland Lovell Tetrathlon.

Jack did particularly well, being placed fourth overall and was selected to represent the area in the National Championships.

For three of the younger branch members, a special camp was organised at Jeffreyston.

During the week Bob Edwards, Jack Goldsworthy Spuffard and Tudor Hurle joined in some of the main camp activities, but also enjoyed their own mini-camp.
