Peter takes up policy post
Peter Howells (right) has started this week as NFU Cymru's new farm policy adviser covering the south west of Wales.
Peter, 31, currently lives in Carmarthenshire, but comes originally from a north Pembrokeshire agricultural background. He will be working with NFU Cymru members in Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion and Pembrokeshire.
"I am looking forward to getting to grips with the job and getting out and about and finding out the issues that are affecting farmers in the south west," said Peter on his first day at the NFU Cymru headquarters in Builth Wells.
Before starting with NFU Cymru Peter worked for Animal Health in Carmarthen for 18 months and for the British Cattle Movement Service (BCMS) for four years. He graduated from Aberystwyth University of Wales.
Malcolm Thomas, director of NFU Cymru said: "We are delighted to welcome Peter to our team here in Wales. At a time which is interesting for our industry here in Wales Peter's experience will prove invaluable."
