MEMBERS of Pembrokeshire
YFC were in fine voice in
November for the annual public
speaking competitions
which culminated in the vociferous
members of South
Pembrokeshire YFC recapturing
a trophy which has eluded the
club for 36 years.
The performances by the
club's four public speaking
teams secured the Brownslate
trophy for the first time since
1971.
The club's winning intermediate
and junior speaking teams
led the way with the senior and
junior reading teams placed
third in their competitions,
held over two weeks in
November.
As well as taking two titles,
South Pembrokeshire YFC also
grabbed an impressive haul of
individual trophies.
There was a double win for
Daniel James who was named
best chairman in junior reading
and best proposer of the vote
of thanks in the junior speaking.
The intermediate team of
Matthew Palmer, Fay Brickell
and Rachael Hughes also took
home the cup for the best
panel.
Brawdy YFC was second in
the race for the best club overall
in all public speaking competitions,
with Llysyfran third.
